Searching for Incarcerated Defendants - Part II

http://webapps6.doc.state.nc.us/opi/offendersearch.do?method=view (NC Dept of Correction)
http://www.bop.gov/inmate_locator/index.jsp (Federal Bureau of Prisons)

So, I mentioned last week how to find people sitting in county or city jails. There are two other sites for searching for inmates in prisons - the NC Dept of Correction website (for those incarcerated on State charges) and the Federal Bureau of Prisons a.k.a "BOP" (for those housed on Federal charges).

BOP's site will give you location and projected release date. The NC DOC's site is a little more detailed, giving you inmate location, charges, projected release date and, if they are currently incarcerated, a picture.

It's pretty easy to serve someone who is already incarcerated, the Sheriff knows where to find them.
