If you practice in areas that require you to request your client's medical records, you know that medical providers and paralegals have been arguing about the correct cost for these records since the beginning of time. Well, maybe not that long, but you understand the frustration we experience in getting these records.
NCGS 90-411 set out the charges for records in North Carolina. What if you are dealing with providers in other states? How do you make sure they are not overcharging your client? A fellow paralegal sent me this site today and I was so excited I had to jump on here and share it with you. So, thanks to Leslie at Martin & Jones for sharing this site with me so that I can now share it with you.

ReplyDeleteThe information posted on our medical records copying costs web page is a combination of in-house research and submissions made by other law firms.
We update the page when we learn of new statutes, or revisions to statutes already posted; as such, there is no regular time point at which we do this. We cannot and do not represent that all statutes are up-to-date. One type of revision which is especially hard for us to keep track of has to do with costs changes allowed annually by a statute and based on some indexed inflation rate.
The PDF items usually are scanned statute text pages where we were not able to provide a link to the on-line statute.
Please share our page with others, and encourage all qualified persons to submit relevant information to us for consideration and posting.
